Spectra Releases Construction Job Costing Module
June 10, 2003

As a substantive step to further expand the scope of our offering and appeal to an even broader segment of the property management and real estate industries, Spectra has enhanced their 32 bit, 4th G/L SPECTRA for Windows?/span> software by releasing the long anticipated Construction Job Costing Module.

Spectra’s Construction Job Costing Module is fully integrated to the Accounting Module and can function as an independent, stand-alone application or can share the same robust database as the Property Management Module. The Construction Job Costing Module can be used to efficiently manage almost any type of construction project, from a basic tenant improvement to the complex challenges of constructing an entire building.

The impetus for the Construction Job Costing Module project stemmed from Spectra’s acquisition of Los Angeles based Execudata Inc. in October of 2001. Subsequent to the acquisition, Spectra developed a data conversion utility allowing the former Execudata clients to smoothly transition from Execudata’s DOS based Horizon/2 property management software to SPECTRA for Windows?/span>. As Execudata also had numerous real estate developers using the robust job cost functionality inherent in their Horizon/2 software, the redesign of the new module was derived from its core functionality. As a result of consultations with Execudata’s development and support teams, as well as input from numerous Execudata customers, Spectra’s Construction Job Costing Module not only replicates the functionality of the Horizon/2 product, but adds several key enhancements.?P> Clayton B. Cracklen, Spectra’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing elaborates on the significance of the new module: "This is a tremendous opportunity for our clients, our potential customers, and our firm for several reasons. First, the Execudata staff have an incredible and invaluable understanding of the real estate development industry that contributed to greatly accelerating our development efforts. Moreover the Horizon/2 Construction Job Costing Module was so comprehensive that all we needed to do was replicate their core functionality in our more flexible and easy to use Windows environment. Finally, in consideration that the vast majority of their job cost clients have elected to move onto our platform, we have a built in and almost immediate reference base for our offering. It’s completely unlike launching a product from scratch and scrambling to get those first clients. The combination of all these factors establishes immediate credibility and enthusiasm for our job cost solution."

Since its introduction in 1996, SPECTRA for Windows?/span> property management software, has undergone a continuous and exciting evolution to become one of the most user friendly, flexible, comprehensive, powerful and cost effective solutions available for both fee managers as well as owner/managers.

Since 1983 Spectra, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, has installed and supported systems for over 1,000 real estate management firms, representing approximately 4,000 end users throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, the Netherlands and China. SPECTRA for Windows?is an easy to use, flexible, comprehensive, powerful and fully integrated property management database and accounting solution that has become the flagship of the firm. Released in May 1996, SPECTRA for Windows?/span> was the first 32-bit, 4th generation programming language property management package in North America. It is also the only property management software system to be certified as being Microsoft Office Compatible due to the innovative and unprecedented integration to the Microsoft Office suite.
